Official word from Porsche says the new Boxster S can lap the Nürburgring in 7 minutes 58 seconds. The news came via Chris Harris who is currently tweeting from a Porsche press conference.

According to unofficial records that makes the new Boxster 12 seconds faster than the old model and six seconds quicker than the old Cayman S.
