Mercedes-Benz McLaren SLR Speedster – pictures and video
If you’ve not seen, read or, most impressively, heard about this car before then here’s a best of the web gathering of information. As you can see from bridgetogantry‘s photo this Mercedes-Benz McLaren SLR Speedster is a pretty wild looking thing. Check out their site for video of the beast in action.
The Speedster is believed to be powered by a reworked version of the current SLR‘s blown 5.4 litre V8. There will be just 75 of these rocket ships built with performance expected to see a 0-300km/h sprint in 26 seconds and a top speed of 350km/h—if you don’t mind! The obvious weight saving can be seen with the loss of the roof and in all the Speedster should tip the scales some 200kg lighter than the hardtop. It is understood Lewis Hamilton will be launching this car soon in what is likely to be the last major collaboration between Mercedes-Benz and McLaren in the short term, with their agreement coming to an end in 2009.
